在英語醫學翻譯中怎么處理專業詞匯

不論那個語種，很多詞匯在不同的場合都有不同的定義，尤其是在醫學方面更為明顯，英語中有些普通訶匯用于醫學專業時具有特殊的涵義。這種涵義有的可在詞典中查到，有的則無法查到。碰到這類詞匯，如按普通詞義解釋不通，就應考慮其在醫學專業上的特殊涵義。

同時，要在閱讀過程中不斷掌握和積累這方面的詞匯知識，否則在翻譯時常常會產生誤譯或詞不達意的情況，

通過下面這些中英醫學翻譯案例可以說明：

1，Asthma is not a disease entity but one form of clinical presentation of a varicty of disorders of the bronchi.

[原譯]哮喘不是一種疾病的實體，而是各種支氣管疾患的一種臨床表現形式。

[改譯]哮喘不是一個病種，而是各種支氣管疾患的一個臨床表現。

[說明].上句中的 entity一詞，作為普通詞匯的詞義是“存在”、“實體”、“統一體”、“本質”(見《新英漢詞典》)，但在醫學專業上應譯為病種或疾病 (《新英漢詞典》無此義)。

2. Cholelithiasis may be associated with present or past episodes of either acute or chronic cholecystitis.

[原譯]膽石癥可能與現在或過去的急性或慢性的膽囊炎情節有關。

[改譯]膽石癥可能與現在或過去的急性或慢性膽囊炎發作有關。

3.  In the majority of cases, surgical intervention is necessary to remove the obstructing agent and restore normal bowel continuity and function.

4.  Dr Li is performing an open-heart operation.

[原譯]李醫生 正在做一次開心手術,

[改譯]李醫生正在做心臟直視手術。

5. We have already learnt special surgery,

[原譯]我們已經學過特殊的外科學。

[改譯]我們已經學過外科學各論.

6. One of the important warning signs of carcinoma of the stomach is persistent indigestion.

[原譯]長期消化不良是胃癌的重要警告性征象之一。

7. The lungs should be carefully examined at frequent intervals for signs of pulmonary consolidation.
